Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role As part of the asset performance team for buildings and civil engineering this role supports the improvement of the reliability of buildings and civil engineering assets by developing and monitoring performance indicators, investigating and analysing the root causes of problems and checking planned remedial actions to make sure they are appropriate. About the role (External) We’ve already worked hard here at Network Rail to improve the reliability of Britain’s railway infrastructure, with train services now more reliable now than ever. But we know that there’s more still to do so we are looking for someone to join our team working to make our building and civil engineering assets even better performing. You’ll need to have at least an HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a building, geotechnical or civil engineering topic and a good understanding of how buildings, structures or earthworks degrade and eventually fail. If you have a degree and are working towards Chartered status then so much the better. The work will involve reviewing failure information to check that appropriate remedial action has been taken and to draw out any lessons that need to be learned. You’ll also help develop and monitor performance indicators, so it’s important that you are happy analysing data. You’ll also provide specialist advice on buildings and civil engineering performance issues to other teams. It isn’t necessary to have previous experience of working in the railway industry as we’ll work with you on any development activities that are needed, but we are looking for someone who will have a strong commitment to the role and is happy producing high quality work to tight deadlines.
